The main objective of the Cavesnetwork project is to set up a network of shared expertise and experience in order to improve local policies for cave management.
The project is split up into 4 work periods which allow the partners to collect information and draw up lists of examples of good practice and of needs under the following headings:
-
Education and Training
-
Risks and Safety
-
Legal Aspects
-
Enhancement and Development
4 subject specific seminars allow the partners to present their studies, share their expertise and explore possible solutions to the problems and difficulties revealed.
The results of this research will be disseminated to the public through several communication tools:
-
A website
-
A DVD
-
A good-practice guide
-
Information leaflets
However, the project will only be worthwhile if the results of our work are made permanent and put into practice through work carried out to enhance the sites in each country. That’s why, as part of the project, a European organisation will be created which will bring together the partners in Cavesnetwork, and which has the wider aim of spreading to include other regions of Europe.
